Academics
All
students are expected to perform very well in their academic activities.
The academic activity for each semester consists of internal as well as
external assessments. The internal assessment is carried out by the respective
departments in the institution and external assessment by the university.

Internal assessment
1. Sessional marks will be awarded on the basis of the attendance, assignments
and series test carried out by the respective departments in the institution.
The allocation of sessional marks by the Colleges for the individual subjects
of each semester shall be on the following basis.

*Marks
will be awarded on the basis of attendance, lab performance, lab test
and maintenance of lab records. There will be an external examination
conducted by the university for a maximum of 75 marks.
**50
marks will be awarded on the basis of continuous evaluation performed
through out the semester/year. Remaining 50 marks will be awarded on the
basis of final evaluation. Both the evaluations will be carried out by
the respective department in the institution.Marks will be awarded on
the basis of attendance, lab performance, continuous evaluation lab test,
final evaluation lab test and maintenance of lab records. For a pass in
the respective lab examination, a seperate minimum of 25 marks each is
required in continuous evaluation and final evaluation.
There will be no external examination conducted by the university.
MINOR
PROJECT
Each batch of (max of 3) students shall design, develop and realize a
product. Basic
elements of product design must be considered. . Students have to submit
a project report at the stipulated time. Project has to be demonstrated.
Marks will be awarded on the basis of attendance and Regularity, Work
knowledge and Involvement, Overall quality of work, Level of completion
and demonstration of Project, and Project Report. External projects
are not encouraged.
They have to complete the project work in strict adherence to the project
calendar published by the institution.
SEMINAR
Each student shall individually prepare and submit a seminar report on
a topic of current relevance on stipulated time. Few panels consisting
of three teachers (internal) each should evaluate the seminar report and
the presentation. Marks should be distributed considering report writing,
presentation, technical content, depth of knowledge(viva), brevity and
references and their participation in seminar. The time allotted for presentation
is 30 minutes.They have to complete the seminar work in strict adherence
to the seminar presentation calendar published by the institution.

Project
work
The project work commencing from the VII th semester shall be completed
and project report shall be submitted by each student by the end of the
VIII th semester. There will be an internal examination of the project
that includes demonstration and oral examination of the project work.
The evaluation panel shall consisting of at least three faculty members
including the project guide as appointed by Head of the department. Students
will be allowed to complete their project work in batches. The maximum
number of students in a batch is limited to 4. They have to complete the
project work in strict adherence to the project calendar published by
the institution.

Rules
for Re-Tests
All
students are required to appear for weekly tests as per the schedule published
by the College. Absence from any test should be immediately reported to
the class tutor.
However
re-tests may be allowed under very special circumstances and on genuine
grounds.
Request
for re-tests shall be made prior to the scheduled day of the test(s)
In
case of late requests, they shall be made within one week from the scheduled
day of the test.
All
requests for re-tests should be made to the Chairman Examination and should
be recommended by the class.
The
department handling the particular subject will make arrangements for
re-tests.
Late
requests will not be considered under any circumstances.
Leave Rules for Students
All
students are, in general, required to attend 100% classes.
Attendance
shall be counted only after the registration procedures.
Absence
from classes without leave is an act of indiscipline.
Leave
applications should be submitted to the class tutor and will be sanctioned
by HoD, if recommended.
Leave
application should be submitted before taking the leave and in exceptional
cases, on the day of joining after leave.
Sanctioned
leave applications will be filed by the class tutor concerned.
Duty
leave will be restricted to a maximum of 5 days in one semester.
Duty
leave requests are to be forwarded by the concerned staff member in charge
through class tutor to obtain the sanction of HoD.
All
leaves of absence, sanctioned within the college, for genuine reasons
including medical reasons shall be limited to 25% of the total number
of hours of academic work for every semester.
If
the actual attendance in the classroom is below 75% and if the candidate
had applied for leave and got leave sanctioned( for the entire period
of absence) at the time of absence, his/her application for condonation
will be forwarded to the University, provided the actual attendance in
the class is at least 70%.
Absence
from the classes without leave sanctioned by the HoD will not be considered
for any kind of condonation.
Leave
application for periods beyond a week will be sanctioned only by the Principal.
Rules
regarding Attendance
Every
candidate is required to secure a minimum of 75% attendance in aggregate
to be eligible for appearing for the University Examinations.
Candidate
having shortage of attendance up to a maximum of 10% are eligible to seek
condonation by applying in the prescribe format, which is made available
by th CUSAT.
A
student cannot avail condonation for more than two times during the entire
duration of the course.
It
shall be open to the Vice-Chancellor to grant condonation of shortage
in attendance up to 10%based on the recommendatin of the Principal.
Those
who are having shortage of attendance and not eligible for condonation
shall repeat the respective semester at the next available chance, and
meet the minimum requirement.
Students
are required to wear the uniforms prescribed by the College while attending
classes/laboratories.
Duty
leaves
Duty
leave will be granted for approved curricular and extra curricular activities
of the College.
Duty
leave sanctioned will be counted for attendance, subject to the condition
that a student shall be physically present for a minimum of 60% of the
total working periods.
Application
for Duty Leave must be made in the prescribed form, duly recommended by
the staff member in charge of the concerned activity and the tutor and
submitted to the H.O.D.
Application
for Duty Leave shall be made preferred before the dates for which leave
is applied for and in any case within five working days and submitted
to the H.O.D. within 10days after the end of the leave
The
tutor can first endorse applications if the staff member in charge of
the concerned activity is not immediately available and recommendation
of the staff member can be obtained later.
Late
application for duty leave will not be considered
Pass
Requirements and classification of successful candidates
A
candidate who secure not less than 45% marks in a subject at the University
examinations and 50% aggregate marks in the University examination and
Sessional put together shall be declared to have passed in the examination
in the subject. In subject where there are no University examinations
a candidate shall secure 50% Sessional marks for a pass in that subject.
A
candidate who qualifies for the degree passing all the subjects of all
the examinations in the first chance and secures an aggregate of not less
than 75% of the grand total of marks including sessional marks for all
the eight semesters shall be declared to have passed in First Class with
Distinction.
a. A candidate who qualifies for the degree passing all
the subjects of the examination and secures not less than 60% of the grand
total of marks including sessional marks for all the eight semesters shall
be declared to have passed in the First Class provided he has completed
the course within a period of six academic years.
b. All other successful candidate shall be declared to
have passed all the examinations for the degree in Second Class.
c. Ranking among the candidates will be limited to those
who have passed all the examinations in the first available chance and
have secured at least First Class.
Dress
Code
All students should wear the prescribed uniform on all working days except
Mondays & Fridays. The ID Card should be displayed on all days for
entering into the campus. On non-uniform days,
