Central
Computing Facility
The
College of Engineering Munnar has established advanced computing facilities
with the state-of-art-of modern technologies to train manpower in the
field of Programming languages, Data processing and computer networks.
It has around 220 PCs of HCL/ACER PIV@ 2.4GHz and three HCL Infiniti
Globalize Server of Intel P IV 2.4GHz. The centre has all the licensed
software's required for engineering and scientific applications. Windows
2000/NT, Full pack of C/C++ with OOP capability, visual studio,DB2,Oracle
9i, Macromedia Packages, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop,Office XP, tally
etc. are some of them. Our college has already setup facility Internet
access through 2mbps broadband.The well-designed facilities and services
here match the expectations of any IT Entrepreneur. The whole computing
facility is powered by 3 Nos. of 7.5 KVA and 20KVA IGBT True online
sine wave UPS system of APLAB make with two hrs of backup. The centre
is also provided with 16 Numbers of Printers of various types and make.
The centre is open from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm
Central
Library and Information Centre
The Library of CEM has above11,000 volumes and 3200 titles of various
latest editions of Text books, 200 volumes of magazines, and with around
1000 Numbers of CD'S. The library has 3200 reference titles. A book bank
for SC/ST students with around 400 books is also functioning along with
the Central Library. The E-Learning facilities associated with the Library
equips the students to be well versed with the leatest editions and presentations.
The activities of Library has a computerized Automation which includes
activities like issue and return of books, stock details of books available
in the library, users menu, updation of new books etc. Students can avail
the facilities from 8.am to 6.pm
Industry
- Institute Interaction Cell
An Industry - Institution cell is functioning in the college to facilitate
greater collaboration of the institution with the neighboring industrial
establishments. Continuing education programmes for working professionals
are also arranged. Expertise available in the industry is utilized for
the benefit of the students and the faculty.
Hostel
College of Engineering Munnar is planned to be a fully residential one.
Hostel facilities are open to all those who require the same. First year
students are accomodated in seperate blocks. Admission to college does
not automatically entitle a student to claim hostel accommodation.
Group
Advisory System
Immediately after admission to the college, each student is assigned to
a staff member, the group tutor, who would open a file for personal details
of the student and guide the student during his course in the college.
The group tutor is expected to give advice and guidance to the student
in all curricular and extra curricular matters.
Training
and placement cell
The training placement cell of the college is working as a team under
the leadership of the coordinator, committee members of each department
and a batch of dedicated students. The cell helps a large no.of students
to secure employment in reputed organizations through campus recruitments.
The cell also helps the students in arranging vacation training and project
work for them in industries. The Training and Placement Cell arranges
periodic training and personality development programs.The Training and
Placement Cell has its own library with a vast number of general and competative
books.
Career
Guidance Cell
The career guidance cell works in liaison with the Training and Placement
cell. It imparts training to the students in order to help them perform
creditably in competitive examination, interviews, and group discussions.
The cell also conducts entrepreneurship awareness campus and supervisory
development programs for the benefit of the students.
Continuing
Education Cell
A Regional center of center for Continuing education is functioning in
this college to conduct continuing education programmes and to undertake
industrial consultancy assignments. The activities of the center are managed
by a committee consisting of Heads of the departments with the Principal
as its Chairman.
Amenity
Centre
An Amenity Centre is functioning in this College to cater the needs of
the students and the staff members. The items including textbooks, instruments,
textiles and other useful stationeries are available in the cooperative
store. The centre is having an elected governing body and is functioning
very well. |
